Face Verification using Fundamental Matrices

چکیده

Face verification is an application of object recognition. Two face images are compared and the question is if these images are of the same face or not. With this in view, this thesis project devises a way to utilize the epipolar geometric constraint, which exists between two different images of the same face. The epipolar geometry is algebraically represented by the fundamental matrix which can be calculated using matching image points between the face images. The set of matching points is found using the concept of rotational symmetries and face detection techniques. The proposed algorithm is tested on a set of face images. The results show that, in many cases, the algorithm has the ability to separate different faces. In order to further improve the results, a number of suggestions are proposed.
